Obregón, a sixth-generation Texan and full time Dallas-based site-specific sculptor, painter, muralist, poet, writer, percussionist and arts advocate, has owned and operated three galleries in his lifetime and runs an open-to-the-pubic art studio, showroom and idea lab called "Studiobregón" located inside ValleyView Center at IH635 and Preston Rd.
From the Artist:
"Normally, I don't like starting every sentence with 'I', so please excuse the "I"-bombing.
Es lo que es! (It is what it is!)
I was instrumental in developing artistic programming for the artist residency, La Reunion TX, where as a participating artist as well, I created two site-specific installations and sculptures, 'Still' and 'Cymbal of Peace'.
In 2009, I was responsible for the idea that resulted in the color transformation of the now-trendy West Dallas industrial neighborhood on Singleton blvd. at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.
I operate a busy art studio and idea lab as part of the ValleyView Creative Community at The Valley View Center where I continue to create paintings, murals, sculptures, graphic designs, drawings and the makings for site-specific installations and other label-defying works of art.
I enjoy working with art-lovers, interior designers, architects and business owners for custom commissions as well as private art collectors in creating 2D and 3D pieces and accept commissions on a case-by-case basis.
Feel free to contact me for any comments or questions on rates and availability, especially if your project is particularly challenging and needs an unorthodox approach to creative problem-solving.
I always have something to say, both as an artist and opinionated neo-hippie. My ethos revolves around authenticity, bravura, intellectual honesty, agility, thoughtfulness, beauty, sensuality and professionalism.
I make art.
I enjoy creating original art wherever I go. Sometimes spontaneously and working from the environment and other times more calculated and complex in the studio.
